Gastritis

I've been told by my doctor that I have gastritis and she has put me on a proton pump inhibitor (I forget the name, I don't have the box with me) to reduce the acid in my stomach.

The pills have worked, however, the gastritis comes back just before and when my period begins and whilst it isn't as bad as before (due to the pills I assume) it has returned somewhat.

Is it possible that my gastritis could be hormone related? I do have a low progesterone level and the gastritis first started when I had my last period and has returned again so it does make me wonder!
