What a coincidence, I'm in Tennessee lol.
Up until a few years ago I had that same problem with the bees. It got to the point where you couldn't even see the red base because there were hundreds of bees all over it. I had to start slapping them off and in the process I broke several feeders. Even though I had so many feeders I felt like the birds weren't getting what they needed because they literally couldn't get to the ports because of the bees.
So, I did some research and found out that when bees become a problem you can use 3/4 cup of sugar to 4 cups of water instead of 1 cup of sugar to 4 cups of water. The birds get enough of what they need and it isn't sweet enough for the bees so they leave. Through the years I've learned that the bees are only around for about a 3-4 week period so when they start congregating on the feeders I lower the ratio of sugar to water and the bees leave. As soon as they take off I go back to the normal ratio of sugar to water.
Love the smell of honeysuckle! And Fireflies have always fascinated me since I was a little girl, we used to come to Tennessee to visit my grandmother and I'd love to sit and watch the Fireflies, still do. I found out a couple of years ago that our county pays kids to capture the Fireflies for research, that made me kinda sad ;(
LOL, we do get some buck that look like they could be moose lololol. All the hunters we know are upset with us because we won't allow them to sit on our deck and go hunting!
I bet it's beautiful in Sweden, even without the Hummingbirds. I'm jealous because you're where you get lots of one of my very favorite things, snow.
