Re: Black Wave: Legacy of the Exxon Valdez
I do appreciate everyone's efforts
to bring more awareness to this situation.
Especially after seeing the movie about
the oil spill in Alaska, and its aftermath,
I feel that it is even more imperative not
to accept what British Petroleum and our
government, especially the EPA, has to
say as truth. With the way the people were
treated, and are being treated, relative to
information and damages, during and after
the Exxon Valdez disaster, it is easy to
see that BP is using those same tactics
with the Gulf oil disaster.
Awareness is power. Twenty years ago,
people did not have the internet option to
find information which could have helped
save their lives. They asked the EPA if
the water and chemicals were safe and the
EPA said yes. They lied. In the years that
followed, most of the cleanup workers died.
Others, very few, who remain, are all in
health crises. The economy and the marine
live never recovered...
The Gulf of Mexico presents another set
of issues, since the water temp is higher,
it is said the chemical mixture is even
more toxic. Additionally, the spill was
humongous in comparison to the Alaskan one.
I hope you and others continue to also
help raise awareness of this issue. I
believe the story will be years in the
unfolding, but that the information shared
here and elsewhere on the internet will be
the info which will, in some way, pressure
the PTB to be more honest, and the people
to expect more honesty...
blessings and best wishes,
Zoe
