great pain with no answer in sight :(

Hi. I'm new here. I'm hoping someone has some advice or direction of what my symptoms mean.

For 26 years, doctors have told me I've had chronic constipation. I've literally tried everything in the market (holistic, OTC, and prescription) to fix the problem. But as I became an adult and started doing my own research, I've centralized the pain into one area: my rectum. My colon works fine; its larger now, due to years of laxatives. :(

At any rate, here's how my muscle (rectum or sphincter) reacts when I am about to have a bm: instead of relaxing, my muscle tightens and doesn't allow anything to pass. If the stools do pass, it tears the muscle, creates pain, and tenses up greatly. After a while, not even liquid stool can get through. Once that happens, sometimes I'm so tense I cannot urinate. I've been to the ER a few times recently due to not being able to urinate... NO FUN!!

A test has been done years back to see if my muscle constricts instead of relaxes. I don't remember the name of the procedure, but the process includes inserting a bubble that measures the resistance my muscle gives to anything that is next to it. The results pulled up nothing significant, with minor response levels. So, they couldn't diagnose me with the disease associated with the test.

My condition happens weekly. My pain tolerance is decreasing. I am on my third week of not having a bm; the longest I've gone was 2 1/2 months as a teen. I'm done with this, but can't afford medical insurance or doctors if I'm so laid up I can't work... something's got to break... or else I will.

Any advice? Anyone??
