My 15 yr old daughter...I put up a question a few months back...is still very delayed in puberty.
The biggest issue is no menstruation..but secondarily, minimal breast development. My signifigant other has gone the traditional way and had her tested big time. What they found is normal levels of all the main hormones and in specific....totally normal estrogen and progesterone.
The Mds went so far as to give her an ultrasound and an MRI and found everything was normal. Their deduction is that
there is something aberrant in the way her uterine lining is sensing the hormones and they ran a small (two week test) with extra Estrogen to no effect. They now want to run six months of Estrogen...and claim that other cases have resolved
with this therapy. At the start, they were actually worried she had no uterus...but that proved not to be the case. What they cannot answer is why the abnormal response by the breasts and the uterus. It is as if there is a communication blockage..and yes, they did check for physical blockages and they found none. Their best guess is that her receptors are weak....
I can tell they are somewhat unsure if this will even work.
Any thoughts...
Oh...all the rest of her health is normal and in fact she is very healthy. Pituitary tests to check production of Estrogen..normal.
It could still be delayed puberty. One indicator of this is a short stature for her age. There are other possibilities such as chromosomal abnormalities. But I say to let nature take its course because nobody develops at the same rate and it does not appear that anything serious is wrong.
