But people won't believe it.
When I flew over the gulf in a commercial plane at he begining of June, you could see oil slick all over the gulf outside of Tampa bay. No one except myself and one other passenger even seemed interested, or even looked. Nothing was said, there was almost a
Conspiracy of silence.
I came back to Tampa, wondering if we had to leave everything behind and run for it, no one except my husband believed what I had seen. It just a huge thing that a whole ocean has gotten trashed, people are turning their minds from it because they can't stand it.
I told a student what I had seen, and she got terribly upset and accused me of being anti semetic, because she found a web site that called the gulf spill an indication of the end of days, and that the jews would all burn in hell.
It's amazing what changing a name does to people's perceptions, they called what I saw a 'film', they are not calling something an oil slick unless it is bright red curde, preferably on fire.
Orwell would be proud.
