I am noticing this phenomenon up
in Arkansas where I am staying but
do not know these plants well enough
to determine if this is caused by
acid rain generated by the Gulf event.

I will be going home next week though,
and those plants I know like the back
of my hand and so will be able to
determine if there has been a shift
from the usual health of the plants.
