Re: lactoferrin
>>lactoferrin 250mg Not recommended. Lactoferrin can kill Lactobacillus and Bifidus bacteria in the intestines leading to IBS symptoms of diarrhea and constipation. Lactoferrin also increases iron absorption, which is generally not a good idea especially in men. Excess iron promotes oxidative damage in the body and feeds many pathogenic bacteria. Increasing iron absorption is also dangerous for people with hemochromotosis. The body has no normal, efficient way to remove iron other than menstruation. Since men don't menstruate increasing iron absorption in men is not a good idea unless they are iron deficient anemic. Same applies to non-menstruating women.lactoferrin 250mg Not recommended. My understanding is that it is an iron binder (apolactoferrin).
It is an iron transporter.

"Lactoferrin is one of the transferrin proteins that transfer iron to the cells and control the level of free iron in the blood and external secretions."
"Lactoferrin belongs to the basic proteins, its isoelectric point is 8.7. It exists in two forms: iron-rich hololactoferrin and iron-free apolactoferrin. "
