Baking Soda/coconut oil works for the face. Try immediately.
Hi,
I just wanted to drop a quick line here....there's another thread about using baking soda on the face to get rid of this. I read a post on there and someone wrote something along the lines of "people read this, and if it works for them, most don't come back to report what happened."
So here I am.
I had a giant red splotch on my face off and on for so long...my derm said it was psoriasis. I'm not about to put steroid cream all around my nose and central face...so until I read the aforementioned thread, nothing worked.
I went to whole foods and bought:
365 Brand Baking Soda (about 1 dollar...I thought this would be more "pure" than Arm and Hammer and therefore better for facial use)
Barlean's
Extra-Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil (about 15 dollars)
I put enough in a cup with a little water to make a watery paste out of it. Rubbed it on the red area on my face. It BURNED SO BADLY. I thought it definitely would never work. I let it sit on my face for about 15 burning minutes, then finally rinsed it off. The redness looked like it went down, but I couldn't tell if I was just extremely dried out after that experience. To soothe it, I put coconut oil on...and the area became super red once again...and also shiny because of the oil. I thought I was screwed with this plan.
So I went to bed, thinking another method had failed.
The day after, the red area around my nose was very dry...but not really that red. It peeled a bit, and I thought I may have burned my face. So I just did nothing for a few days. I think I may have dabbed some coconut oil to soothe it, and it seemed to help the dryness. But after those few days...the redness was definitely better. Noticeably.
I tried using the baking soda again, and this time...no burning. Zero. It was as if whatever was irritating my skin had been killed when I first used the baking soda. My skin actually looked normal and clear for the first time in a long time.
So I did the same routine, made the baking soda into a paste, rubbed a little around my nose on the redness...or where the redness usually is...and hopped in the shower to rinse it off/bathe. After I get out of the shower I use a little bit of coconut oil on my face...if you don't rub it in you can be a bit shiny. But the combo definitely helps.
Try this ASAP. If it doesn't work immediately...give it time. I have no idea if I even had Seb Derm or not...all I know is that most mornings I would wake up to my face being very red and peeling...and this method has made it all go away.
Other things I do not sure what difference it makes:
Take an Every Man multi vitamin by New Chapter.
Vitamin D3 (1000-2000 IUs, or 1-2 soft gels)
Omega 3 soft gels.
