Interesting that you should mention that book Wombat, I read it several years ago, and learned a lot from it. I have noticed the same thing with many people with Autism, as they do not understand many facial expressions, or body language, but are acutly aware of the words spoken, and the nuances in the speech.

There was one young boy of about 12, that I worked with some years ago, profoundly Autistic, who could tell if a person was lying, their emotional state (although he had little understanding of emotion himself), just from listening to them speak. He loved listening to the radio, and his mother would often find him in fits of laughter, or very agitated, when listening to parliment question time.

Although, when I talk of using energy to discern what is true, I'm not talking about this ability, but the ability that all of us share, but many do not practice.
