Re: If there is no cover-up going on, then why is it
I agree Zoe, this is about getting information out, and people making their own minds up. Its also about not becomming attached to certain positions or information, to the exclusion of everything else. I will sometimes do the little brain exercise of "what if this piece of info were true?" and examine what might come from that, this is a good way to look at possible agendas, and in context with other information. (eekkk that sentence sounded a bit waffle-fluff maybe an example would be better).
eg: What if the information from the government were true?(please don't reply and BBQ me for this suggestion, this is just an example), how does this being true fit with the other information, from other sources? Who benefits from believing this info? Is this info likely to be true, given the history of similar events? What is the energy surrounding this info? etc etc
In the case of this oil spill, the information that the government is putting out, does not fit with any other information, it is not the people that live in the area that are being helped, it is the government and and the corporations involved, given the history of the government, the information is unlikely to be true, and last, but by no means least, the energy surrounding what the government is putting out, does not match the info.
Keeping an open mind is of the utmost importance in times such as this, and not allowing our own attachments to set the agenda.
