Summertime suggestions for safer sun, sunburns and skin care

Hey folks,

As the sun really begins to beat down this time of year and the July 4th holiday approaches, I thought this might be a good time to remind everyone to enjoy their fun in the sun but be careful to not overdo it.  Before you reach for your sunscreen, however, consider that the very large majority of sunscreen products contain harmful chemicals, including known and suspected carcinogens.  The Environmental Working Group examined over 500 sunscreen products and ended up recommending only 39.   See:

Another way to avoid getting excess sunshine is to wear hats and loose fitting long-sleeved and long-legged clothing - perhaps after you have enjoyed a bit of sun wearing less clothes.

If you do get too much sun, here are some natural remedies to help heal your skin and limit your damage:

And here are some suggestions on ways to help offset past skin damage, roll back the clock and enjoy younger, healthier skin:

Now, go enjoy your sunshine and summertime!

All the best,

Tony
