Re: Our Dog
Denny...
Have you taken a stool sample to the vets for cytology? My dog Willow (chocolate lab) has had the same problem since she was a puppy. Every couple of months or so (sometimes every month). She's been diagnosed with gardia, c. difficile and campylobacter. Gardia is a parasite and the other two are bacteria. My vet said that c. difficile and camplyobacter are considered normal for a dog's intestinal flora. Just because they see a lot of dogs with c. diff and campy, doesn't mean it is normal bowel bacteria, IMHO. Anyway, we've been dealing with her diarrhea for 4 years now. It was so frequent that I finally started buying Metronidazole that I got from fish supply places on the net (fish zole). It was the same stuff the vet would dole out but way cheaper. I've also been trying to find, not a treatment but, a cure. I'm REAL tired of cleaning diarrhea off the carpet every month or two. Recently, in the last 4 months, she's not had a single accident. I've been giving her oregano oil in her dinner every night since her last accident in February. I use Nature's Answer brand from Swanson Vitamins. She gets 4-6 drops (she weighs about 60 pounds). She doesn't seem to mind the oregano taste and eagerly chows down her dinner each night. Recently, however, I've been putting the oregano oil in a gel cap and just dropping in her food before giving it to her. She eats her food and the capsule too.
So, along with Luella's suggestion, you might want to give the oregano oil a try as well as go to Humaworm.com (Ask Humaworm on curezone) and order some pet deworming powder. She's bound to be full of parasites.
