But seriously, this stuff MASSACRES good flora, while only somewhat denting candida populations. Hence, you'll feel slightly better while taking it, but new food intolerances will start piling up, and once you stop taking it - you're left with enough candida to recolonize, and without any competition. OUCH.
...as to acidophilus (as well as bifidobacterium) - these are the most useless probiotics. They're the most common, but also seem to be the least likely to go utterly extinct from your gut. Good supplements seem to contain something like 14 strains (not 100% sure, but I think that was the magic number). Chances are, if something is entirely missing from your gut, it is NOT acido or bifido... Not that taking them will hurt, on the contrary, more=better, but it probably won't fix the problem!
