EDIT: Re: Studies Find Increasing Health Benefits From Vitamin D

The problem with bacteriality.com is that all they see is "bacteria"..........and nothing else.

A bacteria-obsession if you like..

So what does, "suspicious that mainstream medicine is pushing vit d supplementation"....actually mean?

Suspicious of WHAT exactly?

Financial gain perhaps? when Vitamin D is cheaper than cheap. Even you could afford this one John, unlike prescribed drugs we are all touted to buy for this and that ailment at extortionate prices, with the drug cartel in America preventing the import and use of much cheaper generic pharmaceuticals.

No one had a "Damascus-road experience" with the discovery of a widespread Vitamin D deficiency, but was discovered over time and where the Vitamin D Council came into being as a result of this; they are an educational and non-profit organization.

In many of our previous discussions on Vitamin D I had established that this sunlight-derived pre-hormone does not "shut-off your Immune system", but on the contrary, does the opposite........................

EDIT:...........
"A short while later, a group of scientists from UCLA published a remarkable paper in the prestigious journal, Nature. The UCLA group confirmed two other recent studies, showing that a naturally occurring steroid hormone - a hormone most of us take for granted - was, in effect, a potent antibiotic. Instead of directly killing bacteria and viruses, the steroid hormone under question increases the body's production of a remarkable class of proteins, called antimicrobial peptides. The 200 known antimicrobial peptides directly and rapidly destroy the cell walls of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, including the influenza virus, and play a key role in keeping the lungs free of infection. The steroid hormone that showed these remarkable Antibiotic properties was plain old vitamin D.
All of the patients on my ward had been taking 2,000 units of vitamin D every day for several months or longer".

Linus Pauling Institute...........
"Vitamin D in the form of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D is a potent immune system modulator. The vitamin D receptor (VDR) is expressed by most cells of the immune system, including T cells and antigen-presenting cells, such as dendritic cells and macrophages (7). Under some circumstances, macrophages also produce the 25-hydroxyvitamin D3-1-hydroxylase enzyme that converts 25-hydroxyvitamin D to 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (8). There is considerable scientific evidence that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D has a variety of effects on immune system function, which may enhance innate immunity and inhibit the development of autoimmunity (9).

Vitamin D is actually an Immune regulator and activator in terms of allowing the Immune System to respond fully without over-reacting...............

Bacteriality.com are scathing as to the closed knit group of researchers and scientists who do most of the research on Vitamin D, suggesting a bias of some description. Well from the above: not one of these researchers have been included.

Do you still REALLY believe that Vitamin D derived from sunlight-exposure (and the identical form of Cholecalciferol obtainable from supplements) of between 20,000 to 40,000ius per day is really going to adversely affect my, or anyone elses Immune system? because if that were the case, my current Immune system would be non-existent, making me susceptible to all manner of invading pathogens and chronic diseases.

Last time I looked.........nope............not one.

In addition, unlike any other form of harmful HRT, Cholecalciferol is a natural, biological, and organic nutrient, essential to the body in the same way as we need water and other nutrients to live and achieve optimal health.
