Re: Fasting buddies on Day 18

"SO tired all the time. Doing menial chores are too much. Sometimes just going to the ladies room is too much. I don't mean to whine but I'm tired of being tired... Going to the store to get more water seems like the most monumental task... Sometimes holding a 1 liter water bottle up to my mouth to drink causes such muscle fatigue that I almost drop the bottle (actually have once.)... I'm not wanting to quit. I'm not done. But seriously, I need a boost here. I can't lay here everyday like an invalid."

Hi there Crhall,

I just want to offer a couple things that i hope you find helpful. Fasting is a special time of cleansing and healing and the more we lay down and rest the more beneficial the fast will be. It would be ideal if you could give yourself permission to accommodate your body by resting during this time and not feel guilty about it, giving yourself a break even from the menial chores that have become so challenging.

A fast is a temporary time of investing in your health and overall well being. The benefits you will derive are a gift not only to you but to your partner as well.

Extreme weakness is one of the most common of all fasting symptoms and is reflective of a body deep in detox, eliminating a lot of bad stuff from your body. As difficult as it is, i would encourage you to endure it, looking forward to the immense benefits that will be yours to treasure.

The major headache is a much less common occurrence, perhaps a healing crisis, and i strongly believe that something good will come of it and that it will soon pass.

"I'm starting to feel like I'm inconveniencing my partner. Before the fast, we went out walking, hiking, played disc golf, etc... But now, we do nothing...

Maybe you can tell him, "I really need to do this and i know it's making me too weak to do anything, but i promise i'll make it up to you when the fast is over".

"...he's starting to worry a bit, especially considering that the light-headedness remains.

Light-headedness is nothing to be concerned about (except that you have to get up carefully). It also is indicative of a body that is detoxing and is also one of the most common of all fasting symptoms.

I hope this will reassure both of you and i wish you the very best as you continue to pursue the immense benefits this fast will bring.

"Where's the burst of energy? Where's the 'lighter than air' feeling?

We won't always experience these while still fasting/detoxing. In your case you may have to await refeeding to realize and encounter these blessings.
