Re: Crawling through someone's legs....

What a marvelous post. This is just like what I was talking about with chanting "I'm sorry and I love you"...meaning you are sorry for all the things you have done that are reactionary and you are healing that by giving your love to those that need it most.

Falun Gong teaches that too. They have a story in Master Li's book of an advanced follower who was pushed to the ground by an oversized bully and not allowed to pass, but rather then get up to confront him, he literally crawled through his legs and then he got up and went on his way...without exchanging a harsh word, and with a genuine feeling of love in his heart for the man who had harrassed him.

Crawling through the legs of your adversaries, whether you do it on your knees or not, is not easy to do...I fail at it many times, most of the time really, but I try to keep it in mind....

Fortunately, it is true that when you allow yourself to react with righteous anger to something someone has done, you suffer from expressing your anger a lot more then they do (if they care at all) and since there is no escape from that, keeping that fact in mind can make holding your tongue, if not easier...at least possible. Ultimately, however, its love that holds the ego in check. You have to love yourself before you can love all of creation enough to consistently take the high road.
