Is this normal?
Okay so here is what happened.
I decided to make a batch of Kombucha a few weeks ago. I made a new batch and then left it in my dark clothing closet for a few weeks. 15 days later a healthy
inch thick white culture grew. I waited a few more days and then bottled the kombucha into three sterilized bottles. One bottle was an amber bottle that once held
Bentonite clay. It was sanitized well. The next was a glass bottle from Kedem Grape Juice. The last bottle was an 8oz amber bottle for chlorophyll.
The 8oz bottle I left in the fridge. The other two bottles I placed corks on and then a rubber balloon hoping that if I left it out it would taste fizzy like the kombucha you get from whole foods. In the grape juice bottle I saw little things forming at the top. I was worried that some shavings from the cork may have fallen in but it does not appear to have had contact with the cork. This was almost a week ago.
This afternoon I opened my closet to check on the process. It seems that a tiny culture has started to form in the grape juice bottle. I dont know what to do, if it gets any bigger I cant remove it from the bottle and I dont know if I should just throw it away. The balloon for that bottle has not inflated. Whereas there is some air in the amber bottle.
Any Suggestions?
