Dental infection - how to avoid antibiotics

I had some dental work a week ago, including removal of two amalgams, and a filling to the side of a tooth just below the gum line. The latter may have resulted in a gum and/or tooth infection. I will ring the dentist tomorrow. The last thing I want to do of course is take Antibiotics . I think I will swill some Betadine mouthwash tonight. Anyone got any better ideas? Is salt water better? Or even oil pulling?
