You are right the Constitution is binding law; however beginning with George Washington it had been IGNORED and undermined by one branch of the Government or another - often by all three. If anyone believes that simply because this precious document written in the blood of the many who fought to establish it, will prevent the current government from passing anti-gun laws, they are ignorant of our Nation's history. We arrived where we are with our government precisely because the Constitution was never enforced as binding law and was deftly eroded by those considering themselves wiser and smarter than our forefathers. They were aided and abetted by so many Americans willing to feed at the trough of Government handouts. The battle is over, we were defeated by the opposition's moving one tiny nearly insignificant grain towards their goal constantly since 1789.

before they take effect. Obama can sign anything he wants but the Senate has final say and they can amend the treaty to conform it to US law. I don't think Obama is going to be able to do that. Even our Mark Begich pulled out of Mayors Against Illegal Guns years ago because he found out it was about gun control. If anything is the third rail of politics, it's gun control. Of course that is because we stay interested, makethe phone calls, write the letters and so forth.

The Constitution
is the binding law of America and the one I recognize as binding on me as an American citizen. President Hussein may pull another stunt on gun control like he did health care but that doesn't mean I will recognize the law as valid. Nor at that moment will I recognize his authority as valid. Our Constitution was drafted by those who'd had enough of people like President Hussein. I am not a citizen of the world. I am an American citizen and any global treaty that circumvents our constitution should be ignored as invalid on its face.

Regarding the Constitution
I am an Oath Keeper, so what I am about to say is said with great seriousness.

I have sworn an oath to defend and to protect our Constitution for the United States. The Constitution is a document which has provided a legal mechanism for combining our many sovereign states - states which were created for the benefit and safety of their own people. Were it not for the individual sovereign states, there would be no federal constitution and there would be no federal government. The United States is just that - a united group of sovereign states - united for the purposes stated in the Constitution:

“We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

We are now at a time in our history when our confederated republic of sovereign states has been usurped by tyrannical forces from within, and the Constitution is no longer being honored by our federal representatives. The federal government has rescinded the terms of the Constitution.

As we learned in the 18th century, no amount of pleading with the federal government will resolve our issues with their lawlessness because they will respond that they have exercised ‘good intent’ in their actions.

The huge dilemma that I and other Americans face is that our own personal dedication to our country is not reciprocated by the representative federal government. We have been usurped. We are living in a condition of lawless tyranny, and it is my perception that if we are unable to correct the corruption and lawless operation within our federal government, then the sovereign states must defend themselves and their people by severing their ties with Washington as we did with England in 1776.

Believe it or not, we recently had a letter to the editor in our local newspaper where the writer said guns were antithetical to freedom because they promoted violence. Jeez! How do you argue with someone like that? America is not the U.K. or Australia. We will hold onto our guns and die with them, if need be. Freedom was bought with blood in 1776 and will be maintained, if needed, through blood in our present time. I only hope the vast majority of the police and military will adhere to the Constitution.
