Re: some proteins every meal?

yesterday I added a bit of lentils to my dinner and they made me ravenous

That does not make much sense. The reason we get so hungry shortly after a high carbohydrate meal is in large part due to the fact that carbohydrates are so much easier to digest. Proteins on the other hand are harder to break down so they tend to keep us feeling fuller longer.

Although if proteins are taken with carbohydrates the protein blocks the conversion of tryptophan in to serotonin, which normally suppresses the appetite and also makes us tired. This is why the whole turkey makes us sleepy due to the tryptophan is a myth. Because of this action people can get food cravings in an attempt to feed their serotonin cravings.
