Dog parasites & brain lesions?

Has anyone ever heard of parasites causing brain lesions in dogs?

My dog was diagnosed with GME (granulomatous meningoencephalitis) last year, cause unknown. GME causes lesions on the brain which then create neurological problems. Some lose their sight, others develop seizures, some lose the use of their legs. It is usually fatal within days if not aggressively treated. Even with treatment dogs are not given a good prognosis (although that view is outdated).

We had to stop the conventional treatment because it made her so ill (it caused severe liver problems), and instead we've gone down the holistic route; ie healthy diet, some supplements and now the parasite cleanse. She is so much better now and full of energy.

Because I believe that candida may have contributed to her health problems, I have kept her on the cleansing herbs for longer than I would normally do. She's been on them nearly 4 weeks now and today she vomited some tapeworm segments. Yet she was always wormed before becoming ill (with conventional wormers) so I'm surprised to see the tapeworm.

So, now I wonder, can parasites in dogs cause brain lesions? I would love to hear any ideas or experiences.
thanks,
