Hi K. This can happen with Wormwood in some people. It's like an allergic reaction. It can affect your smooth muscle. Was there any tightening of other areas in the body? The heart smooth muscle can be controlled by many protein complexes.

If there is a large worm in there, it can generate hormones that will cause great disturbances. They will also cause you to have strange dreams, and thoughts.
If you prepare herbs with a blender, or something that makes a distinct sound for eg. it can signal to the worm you are about to attack it. It can, and does react.
I don't know the extent they can read thoughts, but many scientists have speculated on this. It is a stimulus\response thing.
