Re: I got one of those "community surveys"

I called the US Census dept and told them that the info was too personally invasive and I wanted the regular census. I was told that I had been "picked" for that form that had been approved by Congress and I had to answer. I then called my Senator's office and complained and said I wanted him to call me back regarding this. I then called my Councilwoman and spoke to one of her people who said it was my duty as a citizen to comply and if he gets one, he's going to fill it out (he sounded really young). Then I spoke to ACLU for some guidance about refusing, the guy said by law a counting of population is required but as for the invasive questions, he was unsure. So, I threw the packet in the trash, 3 weeks later another one arrived. I did nothing with it. 3 weeks later, I got a phone call from the US Census. I lied and said I mailed it. A few weeks later and it was the week before the New Year, my husband said don't bother us during the holiday.

I filled out the form for our names and very little else, I wrote NOYB by every answer. For the race question, I wrote HUMAN. I got another phone call a few weeks later and the first question was how much my previous month's utility bill was, I replied $50 million dollars. The survey taker asked me if I was going to respond like this to every question, and I said yes. She gave me some song and dance about how this information will be kept confidential and I told her the information was too personal and she had no business to it and I wasn't answering any more questions. I received another phone call a few weeks later and repeated that I had absolutely no intentions on answering those questions and hung up. I've heard nothing more since. I just got the "short form" in the mail from the US Census and I used initials instead of filling out names, gave age but no dob and for race I wrote HUMAN, just as I have done for the last 5 census.

I have yet seen ANYTHING on the media about this "Community Survey". I wonder if Homeland Security has anything to do with it, it sure looks like it to me.
