Bubbling Garlic Oil! Is that normal?

On Sunday I started a batch of garlic oil. I wanted it to be ready for use when the B&B tincture, that I also started, gets done doing its tincture thing. I had peeled a bunch of garlic cloves on Saturday, which were waiting in the fridge in a baggie. I just chopped them, put them in a jar and covered them with room temperature olive oil, giving the jar about a one inch float over about two inches of garlic chunks. I have been shaking it several times. I just took off the lid and there was a tiny little pop and the oil was fizzing like crazy!! It smelled nice and cleanly garlicy- nothing off at all. It has been sitting at room temperature. Is this a normal part of the process??
