I am beginning my 20 day fast which ends my Lenten journey. I've spent the first part of Lent only eating one meal a day or two smaller meals. I have always found fasting during this time to be incredibly enlightening. As a sufferer of Bipolar Disorder, my condition actually takes a back seat as I'm not driven by mood swings. I've found that some foods can trigger a mood swing and too much of a good thing turns into a very bad thing. So, I fast to gain focus on more important things in life. I do lose weight but not a lot. Every year that I've done this (5 years now), I've only lost 10 pounds. I drink whatever I want but mostly I stick to nutritional drinks like Ensure or Walmart knock offs. They pack a punch and keep me energized. I try to avoid sugary drinks because they give me a headache. So, I'm just looking to share my experience on the last legg of my Lenten journey while I'm fasting.
