My ideas are that your brother is reminding you of your father. Also with him hugging your dad he has fond memories
of him. The rivalry may be between the differing ways the two of you view your father. Your father was a role model
for your brother. As your father he was probably more restricting in his attempts to protect you.

Perhaps the two of you should converse about your dad.
Who knows what you may discover.
