Willow,
You said:
I've told so many people they can heal themselves naturally and most times I can tell when I'm talking that the person is only indulging me or even shutting down while I'm talking.
This is so true!!! But these are people we care deeply about so we plant a seed any way we can. Handouts are worth a try; no pressure and would allow people to absorb privately the knowledge you want to share... the seed is now planted!
If we reach just one person then we've truly accomplished something.
I do have a few success stories to share for inspiration: Just last weekend I attended a baby shower. A family member came to me to share 'what she had been doing'. I had talked to her briefly in January about vegan/raw food eating and juicing. She said she had not yet gone vegan, but she had bought a book about our food chain. How chickens and beef are being fed growth hormones and antibiotics and the deceptive labeling of things like 'cage-free eggs', how today's cattle don't graze on grass and are not fed plant based diets. She had learned how corn is no longer corn as it once was and what 'corn syrup' means in today's food chain. She was amazed by what was going on. She had had no clue. I planted a seed and it is growing! I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time she was talking.. she is getting it.
I have a life-long friend that I have been 'sharing' my natural healing with for years. She listens for a few minutes, but never has really listened. Let's just say she was polite, but did not encourage a continued conversation. Just things like, that's interesting, or I'm happy it is working for you. About a year ago she 'shared' that she had gone to a seminar on natural ways to cure/avoid diabetes with her son. She said the whole time she was listening, she keep thinking, "everything they are saying my good friend has already told me, but I didn't get it!" I had planted the seed. It is wonderful to now be able to talk natural healing and health with her and see that she is making changes toward's a healthier life.
I have been referred to as "The Witch Doctor" in my family for decades now. This comes from my quest to live a healthy life and use natural substances to 'cure what ails me' and using deep muscle therapy and other 'alternative' methods for staying healthy.
I believe there is a place for medicine. An accident that requires life-saving measures when there is no other way. If you are laying on the highway with your insides hanging out.
The surprising thing is these family members do call "The Witch Doctor" when they are faced with a medical crisis. They ask me for my opinion and help. BUT, they rarely want to change what they eat or drink or how they live once the crisis has past. I have learned to 'plant seeds' and not lecture or push to hard. For reasons I will never understand most people do not get the connection between what they put in their mouth and on their skin and the disease/health conditions they develop. I have succeeded in stopping at least two organ removal surgeries.. These things make it worth all the times of doubt and wondering if any of the seeds I plant are growing!
I have had several people tell me they don't WANT to know where their food comes from or how it is produced, because if they KNEW they would likely not be able to continue eating it!! I believe that this is very true. Once we KNOW something to be true, we are forced to acknowledge it.
UNY...
"YOU seem to think you know MORE than doctors!!!"
I have to agree with Willow on this one. None of my friends have 'said it', but I have seen those very words running circles in their minds... LOL!
I know you have a zillion links you can and do offer them. Great answer!
Let's plant some seeds,
