The Conscious in conflict with the Unconscious.

The Conscious in conflict with the Unconscious.

As a prism divides light into separate colors, it is the mind of man that is good at dividing & dissecting whatsoever passes through it. Whatever is perceived, the mind creates polar opposites out of it. Existence is what it is. It is one harmonious phenome. The mind enters the scene and creates what is good & what is bad, what is right & wrong, what is liked and disliked, what is loved and hated, what has value, what is valueless, what has beauty & what is ugly, the positive & negative, the god and devil. Then mind chooses to identify with one end of each one of these spectrums, of each of these polarities, and dissassoiates itself from the part that is rejected.

Accepted is the love, not the hate. Accepted is the good, and the bad is pushed away. Accepted is the positive, the light, the virtuous. And rejected is the negative, the sinner, the hater, the anger and the greedy man, woman. As a result man is left divided into fragments, not a whole entity but one that is split into parts. And what happens to all that is considered dark, sinister and not right? The negative, the evil and of hate? It is pushed into the unconscious. Thrown into the basement of one's being - to be forgetten about, in an attempt to ignore it.

That which is accepted is allowed to be consciously expressed. That which is rejected is pushed into the unconscious, not to be ever seen and prevented from ever being expressed. Hence, the conflict that is created within each man, each woman – the conscious asserting control over the unconscious.

Each one of us is conscious of the good. Encourages the positive to be expressed – accepted is the love, the sharing, the righteousness. But would like to deny that there is anything bad within. Hence, there lies the root of all suffering of mankind. Hatred, greed, anger is to be hidden from view. Children are forced to share before they have come to understand for themselves what greed really is. To experience greed is the only way to really understand it. To accept it, is to move through it - not to avoid it. To see for themselves what it is, and where it leads. Only then can one move naturally into sharing what they have with others. Sharing comes out of a full understanding of what and where greed will lead.

Instead, every child is prevented by the parent to experience this for themselves. To learn the lesson deeply within themselves. They are told not to be greedy with their friends. And forced to share when they are not ready to move into it. The real meaning of the emotions are not really ever understood when they are never really experienced, never fully experienced. Without experience, the names of the emotions remain only as meaningless words within the intellect. Intellectually understood, but not existentially experienced. And an intellectual understanding is really no understanding at all. Just hollow empty words that lack meaning, that lack being integrated within through situations found through real life experiences.

So to be able to better live with the parent, the game of politics begins, the greed, the anger, jealousy, envy… is pushed into the unconscious, to be controlled and held there by the conscious mind. And over time the unconscious grows more and more filled with darkness and perversions continue to gain more and more strength.

A fear grows that if the conscious mind ever loses its control, loses its grip on the unconscious, then the unconscious will burst forth and will be too overwhelming. One just may lose their identity in the process, the identity that one has with the positive end of the spectrum. With the loss of control, there will be chaos, anarchy and the conscious will be overcome by the unconscious, and all would be lost - so we are told. One will need to find an exorcist, or some other method, to drive back the demons from where they have come – to be placed back into the unconscious from where they have been placed previously. And again the lid closed tightly, and the conscious to sit on top of the unconscious to keep it from showing its ugly head. From finding its expression. What madness will be released if one loses their grip?

But just look around and you can see. The insanity is finding its way into the outer world. That which has been stuffed into the unconscious, all the negative parts, the negative parts of yourself, the negative parts of everyone else, is finding its way into the world at large. The inner conflict is why the outer world is in conflict. You are also responsible for the situation as it exists in the world today.

So buried inside each one of us is all that is considered by society to be unacceptable. But where will it find expression if not within oneself? It will found in the others around you. It will be seen in your neighbor, in the enemies you have chosen, in those you don’t ever want to get to know. The sinner is found somewhere else outside of you. The greedy person is the one down the street. The one that appears strange to you is where the evil is. In the one that you don’t like. In the one you would not like to ever get to know. The one you will always be closed to forever and ever. The perverted, the sinner, the criminal, everthing that is discarded and denied to exist within oneself - they are all found outside of oneself, in others, in the society at large. The news is full of those that are filled with what you have denied is within yourself. The division within man is such a deep precipice. The abyss is full of dark emotional crap that grows as a cancer within mankind. All that which has been rejected. In this way one can continue with the pretense. Never looking inside. It is seen in others, not in oneself.

Before you were born, two people met, merged and melted into one unity. One was a man and the other a woman – a masculine energy and a feminine. Out of that union, your body was created. You were born with a body, on the outside it is seen as either masculine or feminine, male or female. It was formed from out of cells from both your father and your mother. You are formed from both male and female type of cells. So in fact both polarities are within you. You are made of a male and a female polarity.

You may have a been born as a man but within there is an inner woman. If you have the body of a woman, then within you there is an inner man. If you are a man, you are conscious of the male part of you, and the female is the unconscious part. The same if you have the body of a woman, within there is an inner man. You are conscious of the outer woman, and the inner man lies in your unconscious.

Consciousness by its very nature seeks to expand. Consciousness is always moving toward becoming greater. So that which is unconscious will always move toward becoming conscious. This is natural, it is a natural evolution of consciousness. But mind, which identifies with beauty, goodness, righteousness, saintliness, and rejects the bad, negative, etc., will attempt to resist becoming aware of that which has been denied, of that which lies within the unconscious. The same is with your inner man or your inner woman. The outer man denies his inner woman. The outer woman denies her inner man. One must maintain their identity, otherwise, fear of being lost. Fear of being overwhelmed by the unconscious.

Both your parents are within you. They are capable of meeting again within you. They are trying to meet again and again to meet within you once again. If you are a man, then the inner woman seeks to move from the unconscious to become conscious. And the same for the woman, the inner man is seeking to merge with the outer woman. This is what yoga and tantra are good for – to help bring about this union of female and male energies. This union is part of a natural process. But we have been taught to live an unnatural existence. That is why the methods of yoga and tantra has been developed.

Society has conditioned its members that this merger should not happen. Early on, boys are separated from girls, a boy should not play with dolls, a girl should not climb trees and play with frogs and snakes. To be a man, one should not cry and weep, or act like a 'sissy'. It is something that is considered ok for a female to do. Expressing emotions is ok for a woman. But a man should be a man, a man should show that he has strength, not weakness, that he is in control. And the woman should not become aggressive like a man, should not be filled with anger, but should be more submissive.

Each man and woman is separated and divided in the outside world, and is divided within. The turmoil is between the conscious and the unconscious. The conflict between the conscious trying to remain in control of the unconscious. Much energy is wasted. Many dis-eases exist. Many wars are fought. Many crimes committed. Harmony is lost. Peace too. The opposites can meet within you. The male and female, the sinner and the saint, the god and the devil. Man/woman are made of both ends of each spectrum. The opposites are in reality compliments. When the male and female within has once again merged and melted into one, when the divisons between the unconscious and the conscious has been completely dissolved, only then will the world be seen again as one.

Peace - turiya
