I think you were targeted because you're shy as you said in your post. There's no way to deal with a narc/sociopath other than to leave the situation. If that's not possible, there will always be harm done. There is no way to contain it or strategize against it. A note of possible comfort: people who are duped into believing the narcissist usually aren't the kind of people you would want to know anyway. They're either fellow narcissists or enablers. Trust me, the regular people get the same vibe you get around narcissists. Tweet
