Re: Anyone else sick after receiving MMR vaccine?
I am 55 years old and have been in school for phlebotomy. I have to do an externship after graduating and had to have an MMR titer. My titer came back showing that I needed to be revaccinated. I have Lupus but have been asymptomatic for over 15 years. No one ever told me that I should not have live vaccines.
I had my MMR vaccine a little over a week ago and withing a few days developed swollen glands behind my ears. Now a few days later I have severe joint and muscle pain along with a rash that is covering my abdomen.
I have notified my familiy physician and he told me that it is a reaction to the vaccine. He also told me that if I develop a fever, runny nose or cough that I am contagious and could spread either one of the diseases that I was vaccinated against.
I feel sick as a dog and am scared to death that I am now out of remission and having a flare of Lupus.
I wonder how I will be able to be a phlebotomist when I can harldy move my hands and arms now with them being so painful and stiff?
It was a viscious circle now wasn't it? I had to go back to school to find work in this economy if I possibly could. I had to get the vaccine in order to complete my education. And now? Well I may not be able to work at all if I can't use my hands and arms.
I'm livid!
