Re: Vitamin D
I know that Mirena caused me to have several vitamin deficiencies -- directly, or indirectly through the stomach issues it caused for me (I would imagine it's hard for the gut to absorb vitamins when you're constantly having diarrhea, ugh.) But researching online, it seems that ALL hormonal birth control causes problems with vitamin absorbption, especially the B vitamins. I've been on birth control for almost a decade (pill for 7 years off and on, then Mirena for 1.5 years) without a single doctor mentioning that i should take a multivitamin. So frustrating!
Anyways, reading up on the effects of silicone poisoining, a few detox regimens reccommend supplementing with a high dose of vitamin D. It's supposed to keep the autoimmune response under control. Also vitamin D deficiency has been implicated in other autoimmune disorders such as Crohn's and MS. So I'm taking Vitamin D to boost my levels, as well as my B vitamins. My naturopath says that B6 is especially important for regulating my adrenals and hormone production post-mirena, and B12 is vital for liver function and digestion.
Hoping that all this helps us start to feel normal again : ) hang in there!
