Re: Help - eating fat to cleanse the liver of fat doesn't make sense to me!
Hi Lisa,
Your question is interesting.
First, let's say this: We do not add fat to the liver when taking olive oil.
This forum is lacking accurate info, how the whole liver/gb cleansing works. This statement should not be taken as a criticisim.
Here is my wiew how it works:
Our body has an automatic control mechanism to handle the digestive functions.
When oil or any other fat goes to stomach it will trigger the mechanism to break down the fats. Stomach will add acid to the food we eat. Small intestine will not accept acid load from the stomach, so it need to be neutralized by adding bile from gallbladder and liver to get the acidity between 7-7.5 PH, before it continues the journey to small intestine and bowel.
Adding citrus juices to stomach simultaneously with olive oil will increase the acidity level further. Therefore the gallbladder and liver is forced to work extra hard neutralizing the solution that moves from stomach towards small intestine. This will bring rubbish out of those organs as they work hard.
This acid overload is the key issue in cleansing process.
Too little acid and the cleansing will not work well or not at all.
If too much citrus juice is taken, we get good result (plenty of stones and unwanted toxins, but also burning feeling in the intestine afterward as the gallbladder emtied itself from bile, but the quantity was insufficient to neutralize the solution that moved towards intestine.
So what is the function of
Epsom Salts ?
Putting it simply, it cauces the bowel to move faster, therefore clearing all rubbish out of the body quickly, instead of giving time for toxins and loose cholesterol to reabsorb in the intestine.
So, now You have a basic understanding what happens.
This is not a rocket science, just aiding normal body functions.
Good luck to You and Happy new Year
