You have a wise husband Lyynn! :-) I'm the type that's unwilling to give up any rights, because who knows where it will stop and we also become what we oppose in the process. Personally, I believe we have to communicate with our "enemies" and learn what the real problems are and learn to live together, instead of the hard line policy of "we don't deal with terrorists" which is good in some situations, but not all.
Yes I believe the people should be safe, but not at the cost of any part of the Constitution. And since when has it become our governments job to take care of us? Remember when we won our "freedom"? It was the people who won it, not the government. The pyramid got turned upside down at some point.
I don't believe that plotting is the only qualification to be considered a "threat to the government". And the system that enforces this policy is pretty darn flawed. Eventually the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing and it becomes a witch hunt. Like Ron Paul says, the government needs to be a small as possible, to serve the people, instead of the people serving the government.
