I’m sorry, I don’t actually have any answers for what happened to you but if your odour is caused by an inability to metabolise sulphur than a product called champex might help.
It is supposedly good for TMAU symptoms as well and works by neutralising the compounds that cause odours.

There have also been a lot of posts about champex on this forum (it has been very helpful for some but not for others) so put the word champex in the search field and have a look at what people have said.
