The Best of Tony Isaacs from Yahoo Answers - Healing Disease

New Regular Feature: The Best of Tony Isaacs from Yahoo Answers

Q.  What are your best tips for healing disease?

A.  It is difficult to recommend how to heal disease without addressing a specific disease. Regardless of the disease though, first and foremost begin building a healthy foundation and replacing bad habits with good ones:

* Eat a very healthy mostly raw and mostly vegan diet with some organic meat not subject to feedlot practices (good choices are oily cold water fish, free range organic chicken and a bit of organic free range beef). Include healthy fats, get plenty of omega-3s, and healthy nuts, roots, tubers and seeds. Make sure that your vegetables and fruits include a wide variety of colors to get the best array of phyto-nutrients. Eat organic vegetables and fruits when possible because they usually contain more nutrients and less pesticides. Such a diet, btw, is much more in tune with what we developed to eat for millenia.

* Get plenty of regular sunshine, both direct and indirect, in order to get ample amounts of vital Vitamin D3 and other healing benefits from sunshine. Vitamin D3 is literally essential for life and it helps fight and prevent illness. Deficiency in Vitamin D3 has been strongly to cancer and many other illnesses. When weather, climate and/or location make it impossible to get enough sunshine (as is the case in northern climes throughout the winter), take supplemental Vitamin D3 (500 to 1000 mg daily).

* Avoid junk foods, fast foods, trans fats, and as much as possible processed foods on grocers shelves which have had the nutrition processed out and harmful additives processed in for shelf life, taste, texture and color.

* Include regular physical activity. It need not be strenuous. Moderate is just fine and the key is "regular".

* Eliminate stress as much as possible in your life - is indeed the "silent killer". Avoid stressful people and situations. Take time out to "smell the roses" on a regular basis.

* Make sure that you get optimum daily amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Often these amounts are significantly greater than the minimal RDA amounts, which are merely the amount needed to prevent vitamin-deficiency related disease. As many as 80-95% of us are deficient in Magnesiusm, which is absolutely vital for optimum health. Likewise, most of us are deficient in other essential vitamins, minerals (including trace minerals and other nutrients). Get as much of your vitamins as possible from your diet (natural ones, not synthetic ones or crushed rock minerals used to enrich processed foods). Since it is next to impossible to get all the nutrients you need from diet alone, consider a good whole foods derived multi-vitamin product. People who advise that you can get optimum (or even minimum RDA) nutrients from diet alone are misinformed - and I challenge them to present a detailed 2000-2500 calorie 30 day or even 1 week realistic diet plan which accomplishes that on a daily basis.

* Avoid processed sugar as much as possible. According to the WHO, refined sugar is the number one cause of illness in the world today. Likewise avoid artificial sweeteners. None of them are safe and studies prove it. Aspartame is worst of all.

* Avoid excessive alcohol. A glass or two of wine is OK and so is a beer or two (though wine is healthiest).

* Avoid cigarettes and tobacco products. Likewise avoid excessive caffeine.

* Avoid cell phone use and avoid prolonged exposure to electrical and microwave radiation.

* If you are overweight, begin a slow and healthy weight loss program where you burn more calories than you consume.

* Eliminate chemical toxins from your home and workplace environment, such as commercial cleaning product, air fresheners and air sprays, cosmetics, deodorants, pesticides and herbicides.

Along with establishing a healthy foundation, there may be many good natural items to help heal disease. I am not saying to absolutely avoid mainstream drugs, but generally speaking nature heals, whereas mainstream drugs mostly manage symptoms. In my opinion and that of many others who are knowledgeable about natural healing, healing comes from addressing and correcting the root cause of disease, not from applying unnatural bandaids which force the body to function abnormally, often at the price of unhealthy side effects that can lead to further illness and still more drugs in a never ending cycle. Just remember, no one ever became ill due to a deficiency in pharmacuetical drugs.

Lastly, be aware that there are many so-called natural cures and practioners out there who may or may not be effective and may in fact be scams designed to take your money instead of help you heal. Do your own homework before accepting anyone's advice - including mine.

I hope that you find my information helpful and within the theme of this section.
