She told a group here some years ago, that she paid for and self published the text Mutant Messenger Down Under the first time, because the australian gov didnt want it published at all and actually sucsesfully stopped her being able to cut any publishing deal, without certain stipulations.

The books describing the aboridginal people as being equally intelligent, and superior in many ways to the europeans, insensed those promoting the opposite and could possible injure the goverments position in court cases brought forth by native Australians against the goverment.

The difficulty of promoting a self published book and seeing the advantages of really getting the story out with a bigger publisher, made her decide to aquiese to the goverment stipulation that to get a big deal it would have be labled fiction.

This is what she told an audiance in 90 2 3 or 4.
