Here is one for everyone...
In my research on this, it seems in times past, in order to wean a child, the mothers would chew the food for the children first... and pass on even more microflora through this action...
L salivarious is an example... a bacteria that is very good at cleaning toxic waste from the digestive system... and that is lacking in most people any more these days.
There are very likely bacteria missing from us, that were very prominent and common in the past... as referenced in the post illustrating gut microflora extinction.
Three things that contribute to our healthy microflora from infant through weaning that enable the establishment of healthy gut microflora... a vaginal birth, breast feeding, and having mom and/or dad pre-masticate the food for us during weaning...
Other things that helped establish our microflora in the past... crawling around on the floors, and playing in the dirt... eating foods that are not sterilized...
And we have not yet addressed the pollution, chemical, and pharmaceutical onslaught that destroys/disrupts gut microflora health and balance...
