Re: Use CAUTION when purchasing essential oils
Hi PrincessJade,
What I know about lemongrass essential oil from Young Living is that it needs to be DILUTED when using topically.
MEDICAL PROPERTIES: Antifungal, antibacterial, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, regenerates connective tissues and ligaments, dilates blood vessels, improves circulation, promotes lymph flow.
USES: Bladder infection, respiratory/sinus infection, digestive problems, parasites, torn ligaments/muscles, fluid retention, varicose veins, Salmonella.
SAFETY DATA LEGEND:
GRAS generally regarded as safe
FA food additive
DS dietary supplement
CH do not use on children younger than 18 months of age
SI+ can cause extreme skin irritation (dilution highly recommended)
You did not say what you are using the lemongrass for, but if you are applying it undiluted and it goes between your toes, I believe it will cause the skin there to become dry and itchy.
I have used this oil for bruising, damaged ligaments and muscles with great results. But I have always diluted it with coconut oil or other high quality 'carrier oil'.
I would stop soaking the area and use an herbal ointment or something like coconut oil to restore the skin. (sorry I do not know about hemp oil -- it may be good for restoring skin??)
In the future if you dilute the lemongrass oil before applying I think you will find it is a great essential oil. It is one of my favorites.
