saliva has NOTHING to do with my cheilitis, neither good nor bad

I had healthy, normal, dare I say come-hither (ha), lips for over 40 years.

For my entire life, I licked them a normal amount, like any normal human being - not too much, not too little, just the way nature has intended.

I didn't bite or obsessively lick them or do anything else that a few people on this forum who have suffered from some obsessive behavior in regards to their lips have done to their lips. (Normally, people with that kind of obsession that leads to cheilitis are in their teens and 20s.)

The cheilitis happened to me 10 months ago out of the blue, and my saliva has not caused my cheilitis, nor has it helped my cheilitis. They are merely co-existent in the same area of my body.

Most doctors agree and most cheilitis sufferers agree that licking their lips more than the minimum necessary makes their cheilitis worse. This opinion is bourne out of observation and experience of hundreds of thousands of intelligent people.

That may not be the case for the Original Poster, which is fine. Maybe you have an idiosyncratic lip condition.

You are not going to change the physical behavior of other people's cheilitis by arguing and refusing to allow others to have their own reasonable and trustworthy observations and beliefs about their lips. Lick away on yourself! Lick more, argue less! Go now and enjoy your healthy lips, safe in the knowledge that you have done your best to spread your gospel here, in the land of the afflicted.
