RE:To Johng Juicing etc
There was recently a long discussion about
juicing and whether it is good for you etc. The post pointed to Andreas' answer which states that:
Green juices are not just packed with nutrients, but also with plenty of antibodies. These are part of the plant's immune system, defending it against insects and germs. Wheat grasses particularly have many of these antibodies (they act like poisons in the body) When you ingest them they naturally engage your immune system which treats them as antigens and tries to get rid of them, which triggers a strong cleasning reaction in the body. Initially, this may make you feel great, for you loose of lot of undesirable ...
The problem with what he said here is that plants DO NOT have antibodies, only animals have antibodies. Now it may be true that plant material can cause an immune response but that is because our immune systems are reacting to Antigens that are foriegn, but this happens with almost any kind of food, not to mention the tremendous amount of foreign bacteria we ingest every day. So, I think if you like juice and it doesn't make you feel tired, enjoy it.
