Re: Any body had this symptom?

My husband's theory is that if the stomach is irritated or inflamed that it somehow pushes on the esophagus and can cause these issues. It's interesting how burping helps to relieve these feelings. I haven't been to the doc for this as I don't want to do an endoscopy right now. For now, I will just continue to take the Prilosec and Gas-x extra strength and Zantac when I need it. I think for me this is happening now because I've had a cold for a couple of weeks and have been having some post-nasal dripping into my stomach and I also have some thicker mucous that has been in my throat, which doesn't help the swallowing. Hope that wasn't TMI. Also, I took some liquid calcium/magnesium citrate, which can also irritate the stomach.
I know what you mean about the choking part. That used to freak me out, but I just keep swallowing and taking smaller sips of water and it passes. For me, the choking part starts after I have swallowed. I know the food or pill have gone down, but they seem to get hung up a little further down closer to where the stomach starts. That's when my husband said the part about the stomach being inflamed and pushing up on the esophagus. I used to get a dull ache sometimes in the upper part of my back too, and it seemed to be when I ate something that didn't agree with me.
Happy Holidays !
