Attention Magic Bean Users!
Had a long chat on the phone today and got a few Christmas tidbits.
Someone figured out that if running from port 2, the amplified port with the black knob, the output stays the same but the wave quality improves if turned down to ~5V.
The reason is that all square waves create their own harmonics and while running a higher frq like +1 MHz some of those harmonics may be outside of the range of the amplifier.
In short connect your Bean to Output 1, the one that runs steady at 5V and without amplification.
Upper harmonics above 50 MHz are sent through intact, while the strength of the output doesn’t change between the two ports, you will loose some brightness on the LED display.
A set of new cables are on the way to improve lower harmonics and it has been suggested that the new cable will add another20-40% effectiveness boost for the lower harmonics lost by the fiber optic video cables…Will write again after testing…
