Re: Morgellons: Should I quarrantine my house? I am scared
I know how you feel. I went through the same thing and had the same exact feelings.
It is highly unlikely that you will give this to someone with casual contact, unless you have some type of mite/lice that is easily spread to others. The bugs I had were springtails and gnats and they only targetted me. These bugs were only attracted to the fungus/yeast/mold growth on my skin. Once I got this mold/yeast/fungus growth reduced, I no longer have problems with these bugs.
The thing I have heard from others is that your environment can be contaminated with mold spores that could cause problems for others. This should not bother most people with intact immune systems, but it depends on the contamination. I believe I had lots of mold spores in my environment coming off of me (it would make me really ill when I would come in contact with it). I believe it was coming from me, as we had no other mold issues in the home. It also seemed to make others itch when I was around them. I did discover a mold problem in my showerhead, which likely escalated my problems on my skin. I have family members and cleaning ladies who did not get sick. Obviously by the time you figure out what is going on, you already exposed the family and others to the worst of it. Some people's environment is so contaminated with mold that they do end up passing it to others, so it is important to get the home environment cleaned up as much as possible. Also, you should carefully check and test your home for mold and remediate if necessary.
I hug and kiss my husband and have always shared a bed with him, and he does not have this.
I used an ozone generator to clear the air in my home at the beginning, and this helped tremendously. Cleaning with borax, vinegar, etc should help... anything that will kill fungus/mold.
Of course, I'm no expert, and a lot of the info I am sharing is based on my belief that a lot of our symptoms are caused by fungus/mold, which has been my personal experience.
Regardless of what others have been through.. seek out help from a doctor. The only reason I have no more internal symptoms (no fatigue, no more hair falling out, etc), is because I sought out help. Find someone who will recommend supplements in addition to other things because our bodies tend to be depleted in many minerals due to our illness. A naturopath or osteopath would be a good choice. You also want to be certain the amounts of supplements you are taking are safe.
Get that doc to culture your lesions. Some people I have talked to cultured their lesions, and types of molds were identified. Antifungals have helped some of these people tremendously. I have, so far, only stuck with natural antifungals.. my doc has not prescribed me any pharmaceuticals thus far.
There are a lot of good forums out there to get help and support from.
http://www.morgellons-disease-research.com/Morgellons-Message-Board/
is one of them.
Also, there is:
http://howicuredmorgellons.com/myforum/
There are people here going through Great Plains Labs for lab testing, and finding themselves getting well.
The people on the above forum are also creating a network of morgellons-friendly doctors who can help, so you may want to contact a member there to see if there is a Great Plains doctor in your area.
Hope this helps. Hang in there.. it will get better...
