Re: some sort of growth

Based on the size the other possibility is a hematocele, which is similar to a hydrocele but is filled with blood and tends to be a lot more painful. This is also a likely possibility if there was a weakness in the groin blood vessels from the injury previously. He could have easily torn a blood vessel exercising or something.

Did they run any tests to determine if the mass is solid or full of liquid?

He has not gone to the doctor yet. No tests yet. He will if he has to. He does not have a computer and was inquiring with me to find a diagnosis to see if he could self treat before he made an appointment. He said it is very painful and the skin is red. Now that I told him to use warm compresses, will that be ok if it's a hematocele and not a cyst? What would the treatment be?
