Re: anti microbial facts
I don't like goldenseal or other berberine rich herbs. They can kill the flora, damage the intestinal lining, and drop potassium levels leading to increased blood pressure.
I don't care for silver either.
Burdock is primarily diuretic.
Here is a answer I sent to someone on the subject back a while ago:
Drink plenty of water, and urinate frequently especially right after intercourse.
When an infection is present make a tea of uva ursi, and take a cup of tea with a little baking soda or calcium citrate to alkalinize the urine. The 2 antiseptic hydroquinones formed from uva ursi work best in an alkaline environment. The nice thing about uva ursi is that it is specific to the urinary tract, so it will not kill the flora like antibiotics. Uva ursi contains 2 alglycones (hydroquinones bound to glucose). When these reach the kidneys the glucose is split off and the hydroquinones enter the urinary tract where they kill pathogens present. A cup of tea should be drunk 3 to 4 times daily. It normally clears up the infection in a few days.
This works better than cranberry juice, which does not kill the bacteria. Cranberry and blueberries only prevent bacteria from adhering to the walls. And cranberry capsules have been shown to be less effective.
