Re: Silverfox, another question.
Hello Joan,
Scalp issues are tricky. Too high a concentration makes things worse, and too low a concentration is ineffective. Add to this the fact that each person is a little different, and you have a very complex puzzle to figure out.
A lot of testing has been done looking for the right mix and concentrations needed to improve the skin condition.
I have observed some success in dealing with scalp conditions by adding some sodium chlorite to a shampoo. I am working with Dr. Bonners soap and have added 25 ml of 5% sodium chlorite to the 118 ml sized bottle. Like the mouthwash, this solution is activated upon contact with acids on the skin.
To use, place some of the soap in your hand and lather up. Let it sit for a minute or so, then rinse off. You can then wash again with normal shampoo to get the residual off of the hair, or not. Your choice.
In many cases we have seen positive results. In others things have remained about the same. In no cases, so far, have things gotten worse. As you can see, this is a work in progress and it still needs some refinement.
You may also want to consider a once a day application of the sanitizing spray. This is made with 10 ml of 5% sodium chlorite activated with 10 ml of 10%
citric acid for 10 minutes, then water is added to make a total of 500 ml. You can put this into a spray bottle, spray it on the area after you have cleaned it with soap and water, and let it air dry.
