Re: High On Water, thanks for thinking...
The whole "black pride" thing came out after the civil rights era during the vietnam war, if I'm not mistaken. Because of that, our children are learning more history than we ever did. They are learning of the accomplishments of men who just don't happen to be black, like George Washington Carver for instance. And they're learning about women too. Although, I wish the whole "black history month" would just become an inclusion of all Americans in American history -- Native Americans, European, Asian and African.
Personally, being a woman, I take issue to a lot of STUPID things done by WHITE MEN. All the wars, for instance, I believe WWII was started by one (Are we white people proud about that too??). Allowing companies like Monsanto continue to wreak the damage on our ecosystem, environment and bodies. Allowing corporate greed to topple the world financial stability. Giving vaccine makers a free pass and amnesty against ANY liability for harm their poisons causes. I could go on and on, the list is almost endless.
I'm not trying to piss the men off here, but like it or not, white men have historically had the power to screw things up, and they have. But it's not just the white men, I take issue to all those bone-headed misogynistic fundamentalist religious type men that continue to treat women as 2nd or 3rd class citizens, or keep their country in corruptive turmoil.
