Re: Diet & Nutrition
This is a great reminder of how greatly our eating habits reflect our lifestyle and affect our general health. Too often we become disconnected from our food, whether through strict and rigid diets, or a lack of importance placed on our eating. While most IBS symptoms can not be cured by lifestyle changes alone, these little changes can definitely help to decrease many problematic symptoms. Something as simple as preparing your own meal, sitting down and eating slowly, and chewing your food thoroughly can greatly affect your digestive response and health. What is important to remember is that most often IBS symptoms stem from one of two causes (1)
food allergies and intolerances (2) bacterial growth, yeast/candida, parasites. These are issues that must be identified and addressed before any effective treatment can begin. IBS is not something that can disappear in one day with any miracle cure, but is something that needs to be looked at on an individual basis and approached with mindful determination and patience. Being more mindful of what we are eating, how we are eating, and why we are eating are all extremely important. The moment that we disconnect from our own eating, problems are sure to arise.
