The toys with the least detail are the safest.  Yet, one must watch out for the type of fabric and any dyes that may be used.  Supervision is important with rawhide bones, as they can cause intestinal blockage and dogs have been known to choke on them.  Again, as with anything else, watch the source of where they come from.  Some are made with chemical treatments.
